Job Description
I am a social business executive and business partner for SocialReferral in Ireland. This involves promotion, sales, implementation, support and consulting on Social Referrals. I am responsible for ensuring businesses get the most out of the product and deliver value to their employees in the best way possible. I support customers who wish to localize the product to provide continuous engagement and cultural relevance.
How you got into recruitment
I was referred by a friend. Back in late 2000 I was in a telecoms business and Darren introduced me to a manager in Computer Futures (Dublin). I had to canvass them for an interview and after a few calls I got an interview … 7 interviews later I got my 1st opportunity in recruitment and stayed there for 4.5 years. For me CF was a great business to earn your stripes at. They provided extensive training had a strong management team that rewarded hard work and results. After that I moved to a better opportunity to set up the Irish office of Aston Carter which I did for another 3 years and since then I’ve been working on projects in Social Recruiting and Social Business.
What you like about social media
I love that social media is catching up with our social behaviors off line. That there isn’t only one way to do things or provide value, that people can break down bad and often unnecessary businesses practices and support good ones. I love that all that data we’ve been putting online for years is starting to be understood. I love that it is a continuous feedback loop that can support improved relationships, connections, processes, products and so on. But mostly for the proliferation of information. Whilst there is a lot of noise out there in Social Media, most people can communicate with their influencers quicker and find almost any information they seek. The ability to automate and simplify value offerings that are engaging, open and collaborative are the projects I’m passionate about and social media provides the platform.
What type of phone do you have and what do you like or dislike about it
I have an iphone and like how they invented a product most of us cant think of a life without it.
What is your favourite app
Camera + is a great improvement on the built in camera, ‘Yellow’ is great for receipts and expenses and ‘words with friends’ for keeping connected with family and friends around the world.
What is you twitter handle:
Twitter handle: @jigga_wha I’m not likely to tweet that “i’m eating a kit-kat and watching coronation street” though I’m still in awe of it’s capabilities and focus as an open comms platform, especially for listening.
What book are you currently reading
Book: I tend to read a few books at the same time currently they are:
‘Grouped’ by Paul Adams (an irish guy that is the lead ux guy at facebook). It’s about how small groups of friends are the key to influence and a Tip for anyone if social is your thing.
‘Teach Me to Sit Still’ by Tim Parks. A darkly comedic personal journey of health healing and spirituality
‘What I talk about when I talk about running’ by Haruki Murakami.. My 2nd read of this wonderful book.
Please give us a joke
One liners are my favorites . Here are a few:
The Artist. Never heard of it.
I never get any credit for my mobile phone jokes
Do you want to mention any jobs you are currently recruiting for?
We’re not actively recruiting however I’m always interested to talk to consultants who can help us provide world class delivery of SocialReferral into organisations.
